Ever since she was a child, Ryma had dreamt of entering the glitzy showbiz industry. Having grown up watching her model sisters Ryma, too, harboured the desire to be in the arc lights. It was on one of her regular visits to Nabila’s salon, where she was accompanying her sister for her routine make-up, that Munaf approached her.
“He had been seeing me with my sister Shehla for some time and finally he asked me if I would be interested in modelling. What more could I ask for? So he lined up auditions for me, got my portfolio made and one modeling project led to another…” reveals Ryma. To date, she has appeared in quite a few commercials besides having done innumerable catwalk shows. Having a penchant for all that’s stylish; we decided to check out Ryma’s style preferences.
What's your style code? Trendy and up-to-the-minute.
What do you wear on off-days? Trousers and a t-shirt.
Who's your style inspiration? Aaminah Haq and Iraj. They have such grace and style, and carry themselves with panache.
What's your formal going-out look? Smart western attire.
What's your fave hair style? Blow dried straight.
Are you high maintenance? No, I’m not. I think twice before spending on something and only buy it if I need it. And I generally don’t opt for expensive stuff. If something is too costly, I’ll just skip it.
What's your one beauty/style essential? Lip gloss.
Do you have a signature scent? Yes, I love Issey Miyaki, and I generally prefer light fragrances.
How do you keep your body buff? I used to walk till a few months ago but these days I’m kind of dieting. I am a careful eater and eat consciously. No fattening, oily stuff for me.
Any style blunders you want to reveal? I did a commercial with this director known as Ghazali, and he did not tell me about the look I would be sporting in the commercial. So it came as a shock when they transformed me into an African.
I got so mad and tried to reason with Ghazali that this would not work but he cajoled me into doing it. It was a frightful experience - one I really hated.
What's the most expensive item in your wardrobe? My tops, jeans and sneakers because I have to stay smart, as it is the requirement of my profession.
Which item from your wardrobe do you love the most? My party wear.
